چکیده مقاله:
Quantum transport properties of pure and functioned infinite lead-connection region-lead systembased on the zigzag graphene nanoribbon (2-zGNR) have been investigated. In this work the effectof the doping functionalization on the quantum transport of the 2-zGNR has been computationallystudied. Also, the effect of the imposed gate voltages (-3.0, 0.0 and +3.0 V) and bias voltages 0.0 to2.0 V have been studied. The results were presented as the current versus the bias voltage (I-Vb)curves with unique properties for per studied systems, showing one or two negative differentialresistances (NDR). The NDR region was discussed and interpreted in the terms of the transmissionspectrum and its integral inside of the corresponding bias window. Also, the partial atomic chargedistribution in the center part of the system’s scattering region containing carbon atoms at the leftand right sides of substituted atoms which are connected to substituted atoms has been investigatedfor different bias voltages.

Z-shaped graphene nanoribbon quantum dot device
Stimulated by recent advances in isolating graphene, the authors discovered that a quantum dot can be trapped in a Z-shaped graphene nanoribbon junction. The topological structure of the junction can completely confine electronic states. By varying the junction length, the authors can alter the spatial confinement and the number of discrete levels within the junction. In addition, a quantum dot...

We investigate the conductivity σ of graphene nanoribbons with zigzag edges as a function of Fermi energy EF in the presence of the impurities with different potential range. The dependence of σ(EF ) displays four different types of behavior, classified to different regimes of length scales decided by the impurity potential range and its density. Particularly, low density of long range impuriti...

Graphene nanoribbons present intriguing electronic properties due to their characteristic size and edge shape, and have been suggested for a wide range of applications from electronics to electromechanical systems. To bridge the scales from their nanostructural geometry--the key for their unique properties--to the requirements critical for large-scale electronics and device applications, here w...

We investigate the effects of nitrogen impurities on the electronic properties of quantum dots realized in Z-shaped graphene nanoribbon junction. The system is studied using first principle calculations, based on the local spin density approximation (LSDA). Our results indicate that the presence of the impurities drastically changes the configuration of the localized states in the quantum dot. ...

S D C1 C2 Over the past few years there has been a surge of interest in graphene, a recently isolated [ 1 ] one-atom-thick layer of carbon atoms arranged in a honeycomb lattice. From the application point of view this interest has mainly been driven by the high carrier mobility of graphene [ 2–4 ] which enables fabrication of fi eld-effect transistors (FETs) with much smaller channel resistance...
